Walking through the industrial part of Vancouver along Terminal Avenue I came across these elephants. Stopping to take some shots, a police officer approached me to warn me that there had been an increase in violence from the homeless in that area. He was also so kind as to indulge me with the story of these elephants :
The PNE Parade had it's last kick at the can in 1995. Beautifully made floats were not meant to rot and were sold to a buyer in California. On their way down the coast the train caught on fire and burned these fragile elephants. They were then sent back up to Vancouver to sit in a neglected lot. Several weeks later I returned to that lot to find that the elephants had been taken away.
